Jon and Kate

This weekend Jen, Maggie and I produced beautiful wedding flowers for Jon and Kate. The ceremony took place at The Lakeview Pavilion (located at the Links of Carillon Golf Course) in Plainfield.
A couple of weeks ago Kate decided to decorate the ceremony area, great idea!
Once again the floral cones were a big hit. Just simple details that really make a wedding.
Kate’s bouquet was pave’ style consisting of pale yellow mini-callas, stephanotis with a pearll middle, creamy yellow roses, cream roses, white asiatic lilies and spray roses.
For her bridesmaids wanted a little more yellow. To make that transition from Kates bouquet to the bridesmaids we used yellow roses, light yellow stock, and yellow asiatics.
The buttery yellows and creams accented the green of the dresses, putting together a perfect summer look for a 88 degree day.

A Bride with an Eye for COLOR

Our second wedding of this weekend was in Tinley Park.
Grace’s bridal party wore tangerine short dresses, the Maid of Honor in a floral print dress that matched the Bridesmaid dresses. The two little flower girls were dressed in white, with a sash that matched the print of the MOH dress. The look of her 7 member wedding party was perfect for a summer wedding
Grace chose bright flowers for her bridesmaid bouquets to accent the tangerine of the dresses: Dark Purple Stock, Bright Pink Roses, and Orange Gerbera’s. The Gerbera’s sported a hot pink crystal to give them a little more pop. The flower girls carried mass carnation balls, with an orange ribbon.
Grace’s bouquet was Stephanotis with a crystal middle, White Escimo Roses, Mini-white Callas, with a Salal collar. The quintessential bridal bouquet for a beautiful bride.
I’m sure the bridal party and guests had a great time at the reception held at DiNolfo’s in Homer Glen.
Grace really stepped up the colors with the bouquets and we had a great time putting them together.
Congrats Grace to you and your hubby for putting together such a snazzy wedding party look!

Melissa and Scott were married Friday, July 11 in Arlington Heights. The delivery of the bridal party flowers was scheduled for 1PM on Friday. Who would of thought the Hawks rally would be in full swing at that time?
Once my trusty driver (Tom) and I got to the Palmer House, after a few stressful moments stuck in traffic trying to get close, the Palmer House staff was amazing. They let us pull up, with blinkers on, while we unloaded beautiful bridesmaid bouquets of White Peonys, and the Bridal Bouquet of Pink Peonys, Antique Pink Roses, and a light Green Spray Rose. All of the bouquets were accented with black berries. Handles were wrapped in Black Dupioni silk, while the bridal bouquet was wrapped in off-white Dupioni. The artistic bride had given us antique vintage buttons to decorate the handles. The look was amazing!
While waiting for Melissa’s Maid of Honor, Ana, to come down for the flowers, I was the most popular person in the lobby as people stopped to comment on how beautiful the bouquets were.
Diane and Jen we’re off to European Crystal Banquets in Arlington Hgts to decorate the venue. The bride provided mercury glass vases, and an assortment of candle holders for her tables. The ceremony room was decorated with floral cones, pin-tuck tulle, and lots and lots of rose petals in soft pinks and cream. The gold vintage glasses held Creamy, Pink Hydrangea heads, the bridal party table was decorated with White Peonys. The European Crystal banquet staff was great to work with.
Melissa was great to work with, a truly artistic bride who had a vision and completed it with her vintage vases and candle holders.
I can’t wait to see the pictures!

A boutique florist-one who specializes in weddings only-will truly give you the details and personalization you deserve on your wedding day. I put together these pew decorations for Julie last weekend. The paper of the cones matched the wedding party colors, the flowers were White Stock, Belles of Ireland, small berries, and Lavender Stock.
Julie used buttons from her Grandmother’s wedding dress to accent the handle of her bouquet. Her bouquet was beautifully hand tied in off-white Dupioni Silk wrapped around White Peonies, White Roses, Viburnum, and Purple Lisianthus. Crystal headed Pearls decorated the roses.
One of my favorite details of Julie’s wedding were the Cravat ties Julie purchased on the internet. The cravat is a neckband, a forerunner to the modern tailored necktie and bow tie. They were beautiful. Of course the Groom and Groomsmen had a great time tying them!
Congrats Julie and Hew on your beautiful wedding!

In early May Ixta and Miquel tied the knot.
Here’s what Ixta had to say once she got back from her honeymoon:
Hi Mary,
Miguel and I just got back from our honeymoon and wanted to Thank You so much for the lovely work
you did with our wedding flowers! The wedding party loved their bouquets, corsages, and boutineres and we got so many complements on how beautiful the centerpieces at the reception were. You are truly talented and helped to make our wedding day beautiful and special.
Ixta’s centerpieces were submerged blue hydrangea, with a floating candle on top. The 12″ cylinder was on a scrapbook mat, with two votive candles. What a hit! Thanks Ixta it was great working with you.
